🚨 Upgrade Notices​

Sonarqube

  • Manual Database Migration Required

After upgrading to SmoothGlue 7.5.0, you must manually complete the SonarQube database schema migration before the application will be fully functional.

Required Steps:

  • Wait for SonarQube pods to be in a healthy/ready state
  • Navigate to https://your-sonarqube-url/setup in your browser
  • Click the button to apply the database schema migration
  • Wait for the migration to complete before using SonarQube

Important Notes:

This step is required regardless of whether you use embedded or external DB

The database schema migration is triggered by the SonarQube application upgrade from version 25.8.0 to 25.10.0

Kubernetes pods will show as healthy even when the migration is pending

The SonarQube API will be unavailable until the migration is completed, which can cause:

  • Application pipeline failures that depend on SonarQube Silent failures that are not immediately obvious

This is a standard SonarQube upgrade requirement, not specific to this Big Bang release

Gitlab

Refactoring the GitLab package with the updated passthrough pattern.

Passing values to the gitlab upstream chart will require an additional layer of

overlay: addons.gitlab.values.upstream

An example for update would look like the following:

    • Console UI image upgraded to v1.1.0
    • Console Backend image upgraded to v1.1.1
    • Console Helm chart upgraded to v0.2.1
  • This release of SmoothGlue Enterprise v7.5.0 includes Big Bang Version 3.10.0. For more details on the features and updates included in Big Bang Version 3.10.0, please refer to the Big Bang release notes.

🪲 Bug Fixes​

  • Set Keycloak admin-fine-grained-authz:v1 as default
  • Updated the Crossplane configuration to add local providerConfig for Console cross-cluster deployments

❗️ Known Issues​

  • The Big Bang Helm Suspension doesn’t currently suspend and will attempt to run the update. Current work around is to mirror the package prior to deployment.

🌐 Compatibility​

  • The packages for this release were built using Zarf v0.62.0.
  • The packages were tested across the following Kubernetes distributions:
    • K3s: v1.30.5+k3s1
    • EKS: v1.32.0
  • The following AMI versions were used for testing:
    • EKS AMI: smoothglue-eks-1.29.6-rocky-8-base-v1.1.1-stig-2024-09-09T08-14-46Z
    • Base AMI: Rocky-8-EC2-LVM-8.10-20240528.0.x86_64
  • The following supporting tools and corresponding versions were used to build the release:
    • Terraform: v1.5.7
    • Terragrunt: v0.88.1
