v7.4.0
🚨 Upgrade Notices
Grafana:
- Passthrough Refactor: The grafana chart has been refactored to the Big Bang "passthrough" chart pattern - please read this upgrade notice is its entirety. All upstream Grafana chart value overrides will need to be shifted under the upstream key. If you do not migrate the values, you will see an error similar to the following on the HelmRelease.
(root): Additional property cr is not allowed.
Alloy:
All upstream Alloy chart values overrides will need to be nested under the upstream key.
For example:
Previous Values:
alloy:
values:
k8s-monitoring:
alloy-logs:
enabled: true
podLogs:
enabled: true
Current Values:
alloy:
values:
upstream:
alloy-logs:
enabled: true
podLogs:
enabled: true
Please note, this change does not apply to Big Bang-added top-level keys, including: istio, networkPolicies, openshift, upgradeCrds.
Confluence:
Confluence is removed from the product with this release. When running the upgrade on a long-lived cluster, the following commands will need to be run to remove all confluence clients.
kubectl delete object confluence-client
kubectl delete Client confluence-client
Sonarqube:
Breaking Changes
- This release resets the SonarQube StatefulSet label from
app: upstreamtoapp: sonarqube. Because this also changes the StatefulSet’s selector labels(.spec.selector.matchLabels), which are immutable, an upgrade may fail due to a conflict. To ensure a successful upgrade, follow the steps below.
Follow these steps to upgrade your SonarQube instance. You should be able to run this prior-to or just-after upgrading Big Bang:
- Delete the existing SonarQube StatefulSets. This will prevent the upgrade from failing due to immutable field errors.
kubectl delete statefulset sonarqube-sonarqube -n sonarqube
- The admin password hook job initiated by SonarQube may result in a pending pod that is unable to complete, due to the generated password not meeting SonarQube's password complexity requirement.
kubectl delete job -n sonarqube sonarqube-change-admin-password-hook
# Deleting the job will Terminate the related pod

❗ Known Issues
-
Jira Project Tool creation in Console results in error message.
An error occurred: Exception while creating project Tool: 400 Client Error: Bad Request for url:
The workaround is to manually create the project in Jira linked to the organization user group.
Fresh Run Cluster Provision
Breaking Changes Although the zarf package has been split into separate run and build packages, if provisioning a new run cluster, users should use the zarf build package instead of the run package (for this release only). This is due to a bug which attempts to install some crossplane providers on the run cluster incorrectly. This will be fixed in the next release, meanwhile please use the build zarf package for now, which has everything a run cluster needs.
